Overall Experience

The 60 minutes Rage room is located at Hatchet Harry’s in Liverpool. Hatchet Harry’s is an axe-throwing place, but it offers a rage room experience.  It has 2 separate rooms, one bigger to accommodate larger groups. Each person gets 20 credits to use from different items or objects to break, for example, plates, glass bottles and computers. In my opinion, I wouldn’t return for the rage room experience because there are quite a few different things to consider from a sensory point of view. However, I would return for axe-throwing as I have been multiple times and enjoyed it. Even though, this experience wasn’t for me, I really enjoyed smashing and throwing things around the room.

Things that Stood Out:

  • The person who was on shift that day was late to opening up, which resulted in the start of our session being rushed and leaving us anxious and overwhelmed to begin with. However, the member of staff was very apologetic and friendly and went out of his way to give us a good experience.

  • It is incredibly noisy as people are throwing axes outside the room and destroying things in the other rage room, so I would advise wearing loop earplugs as you can’t wear ear defenders or over-the-head headphones as you are wearing a motorbike helmet.

  • What you are kitted up in is a boiler-like suit, a motorbike helmet and gloves. At the time, when the boiler suits hadn’t been washed, they smelled of several things, so it was uncomfortable to wear them. Our group really suffered wearing the helmets as they are really tight on your head, but there weren’t any other options for clothing or helmets.

  • When we went, the disabled toilet was out of order.

Things to Know:

  • It is about a 10-minute walk from Moorfields or James Street Train Station (step-free route and has a lift), or it's about a 13-minute walk from the city centre.

  • The food selection is very limited; I think there was only pork scratchings.

  • The drinks selection was a couple of soft drinks and alcohol, only 3 allowed if you are throwing axes.

  • It is £36 per person for the rage room experience.

  • They recommend wearing sturdy, closed-toe footwear.

  • As the place is located in an industrial estate, the room is very cool, especially in winter, so I would recommend wearing layers.
