Liverpool Empire Theatre Tour
Overall Experience
It is a guided tour of the Liverpool Empire Theatre, which takes you front-of-house and backstage. The tour takes about 1 hour and 30 minutes, and you learn about the theatre's history and current operations.
Things that stood out:
-
The 2 staff members on our tour were really friendly and made us feel very welcome.
-
Our favourite part was going backstage and standing centre stage, looking out onto the theatre.
-
The staff was very knowledgeable and answered any questions that were asked.
-
The amount of information that was given to us wasn’t overwhelming, kept our attention and was broken up into parts.
-
They included accessibility into the tour very naturally and helped if you needed it.
-
Things to Know:
-
You meet at the glass doors, and you will need your ticket ready.
-
You have to book it a couple of months in advance, as it books up quickly and only happens a few times a year.
-
There were about 20 people on the tour, but it didn’t feel crowded as there was plenty of room in the theatre.
-
There were a lot of stairs and standing, but if you needed a more accessible route, these were available if you asked.
-
It was very quiet; the only loud part was the tech team of the visiting production testing all the microphones.
-
It is not guaranteed you will be able to go backstage as the visiting production decides to allow you on their set.
-
The price of the tickets was £15 per person, which I think is good value for money.
