Kinky Boots at The Coloseum

Overall Experience
Kinky Boots is a musical based on a true story, about a struggling shoe factory inherited by Charlie Price, who must find a way to keep the factory open. He stumbles into the fabulous Lola, who’s a drag performer in London. Together, they come up with a plan to save the factory.
We saw Kinky Boots at the London Coliseum, which is a limited 4-month run until 11th July 2026.
In my opinion, I would 100% return to see the show as it is a favourite of mine, as I saw it in Liverpool the year before. I love the story, songs and message about finding yourself and your tribe.
Things about the show:
-
On our performance, we had the understudy for Charlie, Liam Doyle, who was amazing and put his own stamp on the character.
-
During the performance, we experienced some technical difficulties, which were well communicated but delayed the second act from starting.
-
Lola was played by Johannes Radebe, from Strictly Come Dancing; he stole the show and expressed Lola in a way I hadn’t seen before.
-
In parts of the show, it can get quite noisy, so Loop earplugs or ear defenders might be required.
-
In parts of the show, there are flashing or quick-moving lights, which some people might find overwhelming.
-
Honourable mention to Jonathan Dryden Taylor, who played Charlie's dad in the first scene and then slayed the rest of the show as a drag queen who served.
-
Things about the Theatre:
-
It is fully accessible for wheelchair users as every level has wheelchair friendly seating.
-
There was an access host and a quieter access room.
-
It was quite spacious, and even though there were lots of people, it didn’t feel crowded.
-
There was a range of food and drink, but there was a limited variety and tended to be fancier brands like Tony’s chocolate. However, I really enjoyed the ice cream in the interval.
-
There were access companion tickets available; you just have to email them first, and they work closely with Nimbus.
-
There is a range of ticket prices depending on what day or time, and where you choose to sit.
